In a significant philanthropic effort, the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation has revealed its distribution of $3.5 million in grants aimed at supporting nonprofit organizations. These grants span multiple states, including Virginia, South Carolina, northeast North Carolina, West Virginia, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, where Dominion Energy operates.

The Foundation awarded a total of 388 grants, with over 208 of these benefiting organizations in Virginia alone, receiving just over $2.3 million. This funding is designed to uplift a wide variety of programs and services, catering to urgent community needs. Key areas of focus include environmental education initiatives for young students, expanding homeownership opportunities for families in need, and enhancing support systems for veterans and military families.

In addition, the grants aim to assist teens and young adults transitioning from foster care, tackle food insecurity, and address health disparities among vulnerable populations. Hunter A. Applewhite, President of the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to community welfare. “These grants are about helping our neighbors in need, whether that means putting food on the table, finding a home, or enhancing health and wellness,” he stated. “We’re committed to supporting nonprofits that are doing important work in the regions Dominion Energy serves. Together, we’re helping our communities grow stronger and more vibrant every day.”

The foundation has made it clear that funding is available to nonprofits operating in regions where Dominion Energy provides electricity or natural gas, reinforcing its dedication to local communities. Organizations interested in applying for the next round of grants can submit their applications from January 12 to February 20.
