Top 10 Times Beyoncé and Jay-Z Broke The Internet

“From the beginning, we knew that it was her destiny to become the greatest female performer, hands down. With hits like “Bootylicious”, “Survivor,”  and “Independent Woman” she’s got a new movie called Fighting Temptation coming this Summer….” Mo’Nique spoke these words no less than 18 years ago, and they still ring true to this day.

Beyoncé is undoubtedly a legend in the industry. When she first gained stardom in the trifecta that was “Destiny’s Child,” we knew she was something special. Her voice hit all the right notes, and her moves were fit for a stage. But it was when she became a solo artist that Beyoncé became the worldwide sensation that she is today.

And we cannot forget about her partner-in-crime, Jay-Z. He seemingly went from drug dealer to millionaire, award-winning rap star, and art collector overnight. He’s the business mogul that can’t stop giving to the poor, to the rap lovers, and to the artists that dream of becoming like him one day. And the truth is, we don’t want him to stop giving. Nor do we want Beyoncé to stop giving all that she’s got either because it’s good it’s amazing.

And in thanks for all that this dynamic duo has given to us in the past decade, we want to recognize their best moments, so we bring to you the top 10 times Beyoncé and Jay-Z have broken the internet:

1. When She Announced Her Pregnancy With Blue Ivy

Only moments after she wowed an audience and viewers at home with her performance of “Love on Top” at the 2011 MTV VMAs,  Beyoncé wowed the world when she dropped the mic and tenderly rubbed her baby bump for us all to see. Seconds later, Twitter was on the fritz, when a record number of 8,868 tweets per second were posted.

2. Velvet is For The Vivacious

A black-tie event usually means a couple of suits, some sparkling gowns, and one lone lady who felt inspired to wear animal print or…. a meat dress (not naming names, of course). However, the real way to dazzle is through velvet, specifically black velvet. This soft, luxurious fabric immediately brings a wow factor to any outfit; Jay-Z and Beyoncé were aware of this when the duo demonstrated their fashion prowess in the tufted texture of a suit and a stunning, dress dazzled in jewels and complimented with long velvet gloves. The verdict, 10’s all around for this royalty.

3. Beyonce and Jay-Z Take Over Italy

Beyoncé had social media going mad after she inundated timelines with iconic photos of herself and Jay-Z during their Italian getaway. Yachts, Milan, and all the pasta you can eat, what’s not to love?

4. When Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Got Us All Hot N’ Bothered

The heat was raging in more ways than one, when Beyoncé and Jay-Z gave us a rare sneak peek into the lives of the rich and famous, during the Summer of 2018. In the photo, Beyoncé was shot topless in a sensual thong, while a shirtless Jay-Z was seen smoldering, as he smoked a cigar while laying underneath the covers.

5. The Infamous Elevator Footage

“These stunts are performed by trained professionals don’t try this at home…” While there were no stunts seen in this notorious footage published by TMZ, Solange still had us on the edge of our seats when she gave Jay-Z the beatdown of all beatdowns in an elevator on behalf of the Beyhive and Beyoncé, herself. The best moment though wasn’t even the beatdown, but Queen B’s chill ‘no f***’ given expression.

During this fiasco, the Queen was giving a class in class, and we were all taking notes, particularly when she gave a humble brag in the “Flawless” remix: “Sometimes sh*t goes down when there’s a billion dollars on an elevator.”

6. When Christmas Came Early in 2013

Beyoncé silently slipped down the chimney and left us a nicely wrapped present, when she released her self-titled, fifth record to iTunes just before midnight on December 13. The release generated more excitement than if we ever saw St. Nick in the flesh.

7. Beyoncé and Jay-Z Go Apeshit

It was a day like any other until it wasn’t when Beyoncé and Jay-Z dropped a joint album, Everything Is Love. “Apeshit” was the name of their popular single, our reactions, and their audacity to not only film the video in one of the most historic museums in the world, the Louvre but to also not even give us time to prepare to witness their artistry and power once again.

In the video, their respective personal stylists Zerina Akers and June Ambrose gathered looks that reflected the art on the walls, from ancient sphinxes to the Mona Lisa

8. Doubling Down On Desire

When Beyoncé premiered her groundbreaking visual album Lemonade we all watched, wept, and we’re gratified to view her in a way we have never seen her before: in pain, in anger, and portraying a power that only a woman who has been scorned can possess. This moving meditation easily deserved album of the year (sorry, Adele) and proved that Beyoncé cannot be stopped.

9. When Jay-Z and Blue Ivy Honored Her at The 2014 MTV VMAs

We were treated to a surprisingly touching moment when Jay-Z and Blue Ivy presented Beyoncé with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in 2014. We would later witness more charming moments of the Carters when Beyoncé brought them back for her iconic 2018 Coachella performances.

10. When We Felt Forever Young and Forever In Love

We were dancing like no one was watching when Beyoncé and her man gave us a spectacularly loving and passionate rendition of Jay-Z and Mr. Hudson’s song “Forever Young.” The Queen’s dress was lit by thousands of glow sticks that fans waved in the crowd, while Jay watched in awe and in appreciation of his wife’s enchanting voice.

Now that the Queen and King have since planted roots in Bel-Air and are raising a family of three, including the ever-so Sassy, Blue Ivy, and the twins, Rumi and Sir Carter, we can now only wait for what the young Carters will bring to the table to bedazzle the Beyhive and once again wow the world as their parents have done.
